Fellows will receive additional paid hours specifically focused around professional development opportunities both in and out of Steppenwolf Theatre. Fellows will receive a modest monthly stipend to help defray their cost of living. Perks : Professional Development and networking opportunities, free tickets to Steppenwolf productions, mentorship opportunities at Steppenwolf and in the Chicago theatre community, and more.
All interns receive stipends, and can apply for additional financial support and academic credit. The application for the summer Internship is now closed. Nine-month Apprentices and Fellows are also eligable for Steppenwolf's part-time dental plan, as well as vision insurance and a pre-tax Chicago Transit Authority Card. How competitive is the selection process?
Because Steppenwolf receives so many applications from highly qualified individuals there is a high level of competition. Each year, we receive over a seven hundred applications for these programs. How does the selection process work? If an application is complete, it will be reviewed; reviews begin after the date of the submission deadline. A round of candidates will be interviewed in person, over Skype or over the phone.
Some departments will request a second round of interviews. Usually, the selection process is completed within 4 to 8 weeks and all candidates will be notified either way no later than 8 weeks from the application due date. Does Steppenwolf offer housing? Steppenwolf Theatre does not currently provide housing for Professional Leadership Program participants.
It is the responsibility of the participant to find and pay for their own housing. Does Steppenwolf offer short—term or part—time internships? The Internship is perfect for early-career professionals looking for an introduction to arts administration and production. This program provides direct connections to Steppenwolf staff and an opportunity to get hands on experience within the theatre industry.
The Apprenticeship is a paid training program for early-career arts administrators or theatre production practitioners. Apprentices receive immersive practical learning experiences and opportunities to attend professional development seminars all while working as a part of a team with Steppenwolf's staff. The Fellowship is a leadership development program for early-career people of color.
